CIYY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
Events have occurred in recent times that an alleged hate crime
occurred in the City of San Bernardino. I have asked the Human
Relations Commission along with the San Bernardino Police
Department to look into the matter.
On June 11, 1996, the City of San Bernardino Human Relations
Commission and the San Bernardino Police Department (with the
support of the religious community) , conducted a strategic planning
session to share information in a joint effort to attack hate crime
in the City. It was mutually agreed by the parties in attendance,
that a resolution would be drafted for adoption by the Mayor and
Common Council, affirming the support of our City leaders to make
it clear that the City has a policy of zero tolerance for hate
crime activity.
I The attached resolution, which is submitted jointly with the Human
Relations Commission is submitted for your adoption.
