Recommended motion:
That Change Order No. One to the contract with Commercial Contractors,
Inc. , for construction of storm drain improvements from Lytle Creek
Channel to Mt. Vernon Ave. & Baseline Street, in accordance with Plan
No. 9133 , be approved; to authorize the Contractor to perform the
extra work involved in relocating 3 existing 4-inch water mains in
conflict with catch basins to be installed by this project, at an in-
crease of $14 , 493 . 25 to the contract price, from $2 , 269 , 407 . 85 to
$2 , 283 ,901 . 10 .

CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
The plans for construction of the Mt. Vernon Avenue Storm
Drain identify 3 conflicts with existing water mains and catch
basins to be constructed under this project. These water mains
are behind the curbs, and must be relocated to facilitate con-
struction of these catch basins.
An estimate of $15, 000 was provided by our Water Depart-
ment for relocation of these three water lines as required to
clear the catch basins. The Contractor has submitted a price
quote of $14 ,493 . 25 to relocate these water lines.
We feel that it would be preferable to have the water
lines relocated by the Contractor, since the work can be done
for a slightly lesser cost and there would be no possibility of
coordination problems. Therefore, we recommend that Change
Order No. One be approved, to authorize the Contractor to per-
form this extra work.
The total estimated project cost, based upon the actual
low bid price, included an amount of $390 ,392 . 15 for
contingencies, which can be used to finance the cost of this
extra work. All costs incurred will be charged to Account No.
248-368-5504-1763 .
