Recommended Motion:
1. That the Mavor and Common Council increase the CDBG allocation_ to
,- include $6 , 952 . 01 in 1995/96 contingency,
AND
2 . That Change Order No. One to the contract with Gosney Backhoe &
Equipment, for installation of curb and gutter, sidewalk and
other concrete construction, in accordance with Plan No. 9151 , be
approved, to extend the term of the contract from 1-1-96 to 6-30-
96 , and increase the contract price by $160 , 000 . 00 , from
$160 ,000 . 00 to $320 , 000 . 00 .

Approval of Contract Change Order No.
One -- Construction of Curb & Gutter
at Various Locations
An amount of $265 , 721 . 00 was provided in the 1994/95 Community
Development Block Grant Program for construction of curb and
gutter, sidewalk and other concrete construction at various
locations. Removal of damaged sections of those improvements is
accomplished by personnel from the Department of Public Services,
with construction of replacement facilities done by the
Contractor.
At the Council meeting of 9-19-95 , a contract was awarded to
Gosney Construction for the low bid price of $160 , 000 . 00 . This
contract will terminate on 1-1-96 .
Additional locations have been identified by the Department of
Public Services where the existing curbs and gutters, and side-
walk, are damaged and need to be replaced. The Contractor has
agreed, by letter dated 9-22-95 , to extend the contract from 1-1-
96 to 6-30-96 , at the same unit prices .
An amendment to Memorandum of Understanding, CDBG funded 7 ro 'ect
P ,
has been entered into. This amendment increases the amount of
authorized CDBG funds by $100 , 647 . 99 .
In addition, an amount of $52 , 400 . 00 has been allocated under
Account No. 001-406-5505 , "Professional/Contractual Services, "
for repair of curb and gutter, and sidewalk. The Department of
Public Services would like to apply these funds to finance a
portion of the contract with Gosney Construction. Applying these
funds to the contract will allow work to be done outside of areas
that are eligible for CDBG funds.
Available funds to finance the additional costs to be incurred
pursuant to Change Order No. One are as follows:

TOTAL AVAILABLE FUNDS -------- $ 160 , 000 . 00
We recommend the term of this contract be extended and the
contract price increased by $160 , 000 . 00 .
