Description) Mill Street - "I" St. to "H" St. Finance: Council Notes: �5 �%5-�3 `✓ 75.0262 CITY OF SAN BERNL-MINO - REQUEST KM COUNCIL ACTION STAFF REPORT Bids for the widening of Mill Street, from "I" Steet to "H" Street, and modification of traffic signals at Mill Street and "I" Street, were opened at 2 : 00 p.m. , Tuesday, 8-29-95 . A total of 4 bids were received, ranging from $107 , 762 . 00 to $129 , 103 . 05 . The low bid of $107 , 762 . 00 is 25 . 40 over the ' Engineer ' s Estimate of $85 , 899 . 00 . Discussions were held with the low bidder relative to Possible amendments to the scope of work that could reduce the contract price. The low bidder has pr-oposed that the City furnish the 3 Type A traffic signal poles, and install the traffic signal interconnect cable for a deduction of $8 , 000 . 00 . We have reviewed this proposal and concur that it is fair and reasonable. Below is an estimate of the total project costs, based upon the actual low bid price, as amended by Deductive Change Order No. One. Construction Contract $ 99 , 762 Engineering & Inspection (W.O. #1724) 5 , 700 $ 105 , 462 Contingencies (5%) ± 5 , 038 TOTAL ESTIMATED PROJECT COST $ 110 , 500 A total amount of $100 , 000 has been allocated, under Account No. 126-369-5504-1724 , to finance the costs that will be incurred for this project. Supplemental funds will, therefore, be needed in the amount of $10 , 500 to fully finance the total estimated project. These funds could be provided from the unappropriated reserve in the Gas Tax Fund. In view of the number of bids received, and the range of the prices, it appears that the Engineer' s Estimate did not fully reflect current pricing levels. Therefore, we recommend that the necessary supplemental funds be provided, a contract awarded for the low bid price, and Deductive Change Order No. One approved. 9-18-95 5-0264 U.
