Iona Linda, and. P.ialto, for installation of traffic signal inter-

STAFF REPORT
The State of California, Business , Transportation and
Housing Agency has been successful in having $3 , 153 , 000
appropriated to Caltrans from the Petroleum Violation Escrow
Account (PEVA) funds. An allocation of $125 , 000 was made to San
Bernardino County from this amount.
A funding proposal was developed, in accordance with PEVA
criteria, to provide restitution to the motoring public by saving
energy. This proposal consists of interconnecting about 18
signalized intersections within the Cities of Loma Linda, Rialto
and San Bernardino. It is estimated that interconnecting these
signals will result in a savings of 349 , 032 gallons of motor fuel
per year.
Various other funding sources are available for this
project. Below is a tabulation of all available funds.

AB 2766 Match (11 . 5%) for PEVA Grants 25 , 535
SANBAG (TMEE) 3 ,990
TOTAL AVAILABLE FUNDS $ 222 , 040 -
The local matching will be divided among the three (3)
cities in the proration of number of intersections within each
agency.
The six (6) intersections on Waterman Avenue to be inter-
connected are:
1 . Barton Road
2. Central Avenue
3 . Mill Street
4 . Gilbert Street
5 . 16th Street
6 . 21st Street
The work under this co-operative project will fill in the
gaps in our existing interconnect system.
We recommend that authorization to participate be
granted, and the transfer of $24 ,000 be approved.
