Dear Mr. Steinhaus:
re behalf at the City of an Bernardino f Redevelopment Agency prepare a proposal for the
request that the City of Sa
development of two new state office buildings.
One building would be a multi-tenant structure for the Department of General Services,
including approximately 163,000 useable square feet (213,000 gross square feet) with
related parking and amenities. This building would be for lease with an option to purchase
0 or lease-purchase by the State.
The second building would be a single tenant facility for the Department of Transportation,
including approximately 240,000 useable square feet (300,000 gross square feet). This
would be a build-to-suit for purchase by Caltrans.
Over the next four weeks we will be providing you with additional specifications to assist
in the preparation of these proposals.
As you know, we are simultaneously seeking legislative approval for these transactions.
Although this request fo'r proposals does not constitute a commitment on behalf of the
State to proceed with these facilities, I am hopeful that we will have such authorization
soon and we can move quickly to proceed with this work.
Finally, I would like to emphasize once again the triple benefits of this program:
consolidation and cost reduction for the State of California, a tremendous revitalization of
San Bernardino, and the creation of thousands of new jobs.
I
