An investigation of the roof areas indicated that the existing roofing at the Hernandez Community Center Gym, and Buildings B and C at Mill Community Center were in poor condition and required a total reroof. Price quotes were requested from the Contractor for this extra work. The prices received were compared to roofing work performed on previous contracts and found to be fair and reasonable. The prices quoted range from $1 . 99 per square foot for Mill Center Buildings to $2 . 08 per square foot for Hernandez Community Center Gym. This difference in price can be attributed to the degree of difficulty in accessibility, since the gym roof is higher and access is more difficult than the Mill Center buildings. Previous contract prices on the reroofing of the mechanical roof at Hernandez Community Center were $2 . 47 per square foot, and $1 . 99 per square foot for reroofing the City Hall Annex Building. The total additional cost of this extra work will be $55, 133 . 65 . This amount will be funded with CDBG monies from HUD. Presently, there is an available balance of $93 , 077 . 50 in contingencies for this contract, which will be used to finance the cost for Change Order No. 2 .
