STAFF REPORT
Approval of Request for Encroachment
Permit -- Support Poles for
Jerseys Sports Grill & Billiard Club
The Heritage Building, at 440 West Court Street, is being
remodeled for use as a Jerseys Sports Grill & Billard Club. A
canopy is planned to be installed over the front entrance.
Canopies are generally supported by members extended up and
fastened to the building. However, it is felt that in this case
fastening the support members to the building would compromise
the historic qualities of this structure.
For this reason, the developer has requested permission to
install two small supporting poles into the sidewalk to support
the canopy. These poles would be installed at an approximate
distance of two feet behind the face of the curb, which is the
same general alignment of the street lights, street trees, etc.
Therefore, installation of those poles will not reduce the width
of the sidewalk currently available for pedestrians.
The applicant has paid the prescribed $500 . 00 administrative fee
to cover processing costs .
Since the installation of these poles will not adversely affect
the walkway for pedestrians, we recommend that the request be
approved.
