The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department has provided a Head Start Program at Delmann Heights Community Center since 1978 with an agreement with City Schools for lunches and snacks since that time. This program currently accommodates 15 morning and 15 afternoon pre-schoolers, ages 3-5 and runs September through June. This proposed agreement includes a $. 50 increase for Student Type A Lunches (from $1. 10 to $1. 60) and an increase of $. 05 for Schedule B Snacks from $.25 to $. 30. These increases are due to an increase in the service provided by the school district which includes furnishing milk, straws, utensils and napkins which were previously purchased under a separate purchase order with a milk company and other vendors. The program is fully funded through a Federal Head Start Grant.
