Synopsis of Previous Council action:
None
Recommended motion:
(1) That the request to dedicate a portion of Elks Lane, South of Highland
Avenue be denied.
OR
(2) That the request to dedicate a portion of Elks Lane, South of Highland
Avenue be approved and the Real Property Section of the Department of Public
Works is authorized to prepare the necessary document for the dedication.

STAFF REPORT
A request to dedicate Elks Lane, South of Highland Avenue was received from
Great American Securities, Inc. who presently own the land. Elks Lane is a
private easement as delineated on Parcel Map No. 7992 as Elks Drive and is
indicated to be 36 feet wide.
Upon field inspection of the area, we find that the paved area is in fact 36
feet wide between curbs, is not up to City standards of improvement and that
additional right-of-way would be necessary to include what would become City
Street Lights. The additional right-of-way necessary to bring the proposed
street to standard width would include their landscaped area, parking lot lights
and in some areas, portions of the parking lot.
Based on the above information, the City's potential liability and additional
maintenance, it is the recommendation of this office that the easement remain as
such and not be brought into the City' s street system.
