JON STAFF REPORT On December 17, 1987, staff received a request from Mr. Raymond Wright regarding demolition assistance for property located at 377 South Mt. Vernon Avenue. The structure has been declared unfit for habitation by the Department of Building and Safety and is no longer occupied by Mr. Wright. Mr. Wright is sixty-four (64) years of age and receives a total of $364 . 00/month including $304. 00/month from the Social Security Administration and $60. 00/month from the Veterans Administration. The structure has created a blighting influence in the surrounding area and the land is probably suitable for eventual commercial development rather than residential. On January 7, 1988, the Community Development Citizen Advisory Committee considered Mr. Wright's request submitted by Ralph Hernandez (Mr. Hernandez has Power of Attorney; see attached documents) and took action recommending to the Mayor and Common Council that demolition grant assistance estimated to be $2, 000 be provided to Mr. Raymond Wright. A release from the owner of record absolving the City of all liability resulting from said demolition will be obtained prior to the issuance to the contractor of a Notice to Proceed.
