CIT` OF SAN BERNARDI 0 - REQU"ST FOR COUNCIL A ION
STAFF REPORT
The 1985 Uniform Building Code (UBC) will be coming before
the Mayor and Common Council as an ordinance updating the
1982 UBC. Part of the 1985 UBC calls for new fee schedules
for building, plan check, plumbing, electrical and mechanical
permits. The permit schedules are based on the building
permit fees outlined for 1982 and 1985 as attached. As can
be seen, there is a 15% increase which is recommended.
Information on the details of costs related to these fee
increases will be available for a required public hearing
recommended to be held at the February 1st meeting of the
Mayor and Common Council. The use has been adopted by the
State of California and will become effective whether the
City of San Bernardino formally adopts these changes or not.
The 1985 UBC update has been forwarded to the City Attorney' s
Office for the preparation of an ordinance. The Ad Hoc Code
Review Committee of the Common Council is aware of the 1985
UBC update and wants to look at other changes following
adoption of those basic changes. Finally, the pending
increase has been mentioned to the Building Industry
Association Subcommittee for San Bernardino,
