HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015-256 RESOLUTION NO. 2015-256 1 2 RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXERCISE 3 THE SALE OF, OR OTHERWISE DISPOSE OF, SURPLUS CITY VEHICLES 4 WHEREAS, the City of San Bernardino purchased vehicles to be utilized by the City of 5 San Bernardino Police Department in the normal course of their duties; and 6 WHEREAS, the City of San Bernardino purchased vehicles to be utilized by the City of 7 8 San Bernardino Public Works Department in the normal course of their duties; and 9 WHEREAS, staff has designated 36 law enforcement vehicles as surplus, as they have 10 reached the end of their service life based on years in service, high mileage, and/or 11 frequency/cost of repairs; and 12 WHEREAS, staff has designated 3 Public Works vehicles as surplus, as they have 13 reached the end of their service life based on years in service, high mileage, and/or 14 15 frequency/cost of repairs; and 16 WHEREAS, the law enforcement vehicles may be equipped with emergency response 17 equipment that shall be removed prior to any public sale; and 18 WHEREAS, the City of San Bernardino Municipal Code Chapter 3.04 specifies the 19 terms and conditions for the disposition of surplus City property; and 20 21 WHEREAS, the City of San Bernardino desires to dispose of 36 law enforcement 22 vehicles, their emergency response equipment, and 3 Public Works vehicles, and sell at fair 23 market value or otherwise dispose of the assets. 24 THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE COMMON 25 COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS: 26 27 SECTION 1. That the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino 28 hereby authorizes the City Manager to exercise the sale or disposal of surplus City property in the form of 36 law enforcement vehicles and 3 Public Works vehicles, including the disposal of 1 2 any associated emergency response equipment through sale to other law enforcement agencies, 3 reuse by the City, or designated as unsalvageable, based on the needs of the City. The 4 description of these items is shown in Exhibit A to this resolution, incorporated herein by this 5 reference. 6 SECTION 2.
