CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO - REQUEST FOR COUNCIL
ACTION
STAFF REPORT
SUBJECT
Motion to reject all bids submitted in response to Bid No.F-0 1-33 for heavy duty truck
parts; and to direct the Purchasing Manager to re-advertise for bids for these services.
BACKGROUND
Notices inviting bids for FY 2000/2001 annual purchase of heavy duty truck parts to be
utilized by the Fleet Division,RFQ-F-01-33,were mailed to eleven (11) local and area
vendors, the San Bernardino Area Chamber of Commerce, and advertised in The San
Bernardino Sun and on the City's Web Page. Upon reviewing the three (bids) received,
staff discovered that one of the local vendors that currently provides these materials to the
City did not submit a bid. Further investigation revealed that the mailing label used by
Purchasing for this local vendor for the Notice Inviting Bids had been misprinted. Since
there is a possibility that this local vendor did not receive the Notice Inviting Bids, it is
being recommended that all bids received be rejected and purchasing be instructed to re-
advertise for bids.
Municipal Code section 3.04.070E states that "At its discretion, the Mayor and Common
Council shall have the power to reject any and all bids presented and re-advertise for bids".
Staff is therefore requesting authorization to reject all bids submitted under Bid No.F-01-
33, and to authorize the Purchasing Manager to re-advertise for bids for these services.
RECOMMENDATION
That the Mayor and Common Council approve a motion authorizing the rejection of all
bids received in response to Bid No. F-01-33; and to direct the Purchasing Manager to re-
advertise for bids for these services
