She is not only a senior, but the number one student in a graduating class of 480. Her grade point average is 4.8. Sydney was born in Highland and received her academic success in San Bernardino. She attended Belvedere Elementary School, Richardson PREP Hi Middle School and San Gorgonio High School. She will graduate in May 2015. Sydney's dad is Steve Richter who is a registered nurse at Community Hospital of San Bernardino. Her mom, Lisa, is a student at Crafton Hills College. Her only sibling, her brother Alec, is in the Army Reserves and also attends Riverside Community College. She has two pets, Chloe, a mixed Pomeranian & Corgi and Squeak, her cat. Sydney was a student ambassador to Japan and spent two years as a member of the California Cadet Corps. As a cadet, she volunteered her time being a part of the color guard at football games and also volunteered to clean city parks. She is also a member of the Harvard Model Congress, Academic Decathlon, Biology Club, Swing (dancing) Club, and Tutors for Us (primarily tutoring students in Math). With all of this, she still found time to participate in sports. She is on the Swim team, Water Polo and she plays tennis. Sydney's favorite subject is Chemistry and her career goal is to do research and Physical Chemistry. She plans to attend Dartmouth in New Hampshire and major in chemistry. The Advanced Placement (AP) classes she currently takes that will help her in college are Biology, Art History, European History, Chemistry, English/ Language Arts, English/Literature, Government, U. S. History, Environmental Science, and Calculus. Sydney wants her peers to know that no matter how difficult the task, if you put in hard work, anything is possible.
