Background:
This Year's Holiday closure schedule for 2014 - 2015 is attached for reference as well
as the 2015 holiday schedule.
Next year the Christmas and New Year's holidays fall on Thursdays and Fridays
(December 24, 25 & 31, 2015 and January 1, 2016). Due to the Friday closure of City
Hall since most employees work a 4/10 schedule, staff is recommending that the
holidays that fall on Fridays be observed on Thursdays (December 24 and December
31, 2015) and the holidays that fall on Thursdays be observed on Wednesdays
(December 23 and December 30). This schedule change will allow most employees to
use their holiday time instead of accruing unspent holiday time.
City Hall will still be open for business on the Monday and Tuesday of each holiday
week. It is anticipated that there will be little public traffic on these days. A complete
City-wide holiday operation schedule will be published in the fall of 2015.
Human Resources received concurrence from the miscellaneous bargaining units
(General, Middle Management and Management/Confidential) regarding the closure
dates. Most of the employees in these groups are on a 4/10 schedule work week with
Fridays off, and moving the observance of the holidays will provide an anticipated cost
savings to the City of$2,000.00 in utility costs.
This closure does not impact Police or Fire operations, or any other critical operations.

Holiday Operations 2014-15
This year, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve will fall on Wednesday, December 24 and December
31, 2014; and Christmas Day and New Year's Day will fall on Thursday, December 25, 2014, and
January 1, 2015.
Every department in City Hall will be open for business on Monday, December 22 and 29, 2014; and
Tuesday, December 23 and 30, 2014. It is anticipated that there will be little public traffic on these
days.

Littlefield/Shultis Park, Hudson Park, Perris Hill Park, Wildwood Park, Seccombe Lake Park, and Lytle
Creek Park.
Cemetery: Staff will be off in accordance with the holiday closure, but the grounds will remain
open for visitors.
