Resolution of the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino Authorizing
and Directing the Director of Finance to Appropriate $50,000 to Account No. 126-400-
0088-5111 "Materials & Supplies" from Previously Unallocated HUTA (Gas Tax) Funds
(Fund 126) and Amend the FY 2014-15 Budget Accordingly. (#3568)

Financial Impact:
Appropriate $50,000 from Unallocated HUTA (gas tax) in into the Department of Public
Works operations for the purpose of landscaped median repairs. These funds will be
use to establish a purchase order to an amount not to exceed $50,000.
Please note this balance does not indicate available funding. It does not include non-
encumbered reccurring expenses or expenses incurred, but not yet processed.
Motion: Adopt the Resolution.
Synopsis of Previous Council Action:
None.
Background:
The Public Works Department, Operations & Maintenance Division, is responsible for
maintaining the streets right-of-way easements throughout the City. Recently,
maintenance of landscaped medians has been transferred from the Parks Department
to Public Works - Operations & Maintenance.
Many of the medians have sprinkler systems and ground cover that need to be repaired
or replaced. Others are being changed to low maintenance water conserving
xeriscaping. Additional funds are needed to purchase decomposed granite, rock,
irrigation components, plants, trees and other supplies.
Staff is requesting that the Mayor and Common Council authorize the amendment to the
FY 2014-15 Budget by appropriating $50,000 from previously unallocated HUTA (Gas
Tax) Funds (Fund 126) to Account No. 126-400-0088-5111 "Materials & Supplies."
