Dept: Library Ward(s): N/A
Subject:
Resolution of the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino Authorizing
and Directing the Director of Finance to Amend the FY 2014-15 Budget by Allocating
Previously Unallocated Verizon E-Rate Revenue of $10,000 to Account 105-470-0001-
5181 — Library Administration Other Operating Expenses. (#3543)
Current Business Registration Certificate: Not Applicable
Financial Impact:
More than $26,000 in unbudgeted revenue was recently received and deposited into
Library Revenue Account# 105-470-0000-4901 (Miscellaneous Receipts) by the library
as a rebate from Verizon California, Inc. for Internet and phone service from the last few
years as part of the federal E-Rate program that provides funding to public libraries for
those services. This is the last year the library will receive refunds of this significance as
most of its services from other vendors are received on a monthly discount instead of
annual reimbursement basis. The library would anticipate only a rebate of under $3,000
for FY 14-15.
Please note this balance does not indicate available funding. It does not include non-
encumbered reoccurring expenses or expenses incurred, but not yet processed.

Synopsis of Previous Council Action:

Background:
The library requests recognition of revenue of $10,000 from Library Revenue Account#
105-470-0000-4901 and its appropriation to 105-470-0001-5181 (Other Operating
