Resolution of the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino Authorizing and
Directing the Execution of a Grant of Easement to Southern California Edison Company Across
City Owned Property Relative to Electrical Service for the Verdemont Community Center
Located at Al Guhin Park.
Financial Impact:
None. Southern California Edison Company will pay all recording fees relative to this easement.
Motion: That said resolution be adopted.
Synopsis of Previous Council Action:
None.
Background:
The site of Al Guhin Park was purchased by the San Bernardino Municipal Water Department in
1968. In 1985, the Board of Water Commissioners authorized the City to develop the property
as a park. Earlier this year, the Verdemont Community Center was constructed at this site to
serve the community.
On August 24, 2011, a letter was received from Spectrum Land Services on behalf of Southern
California Edison Company (SCE), requesting an easement to provide electrical service for the
Community Center. The proposed easement area is approximately 224 sq. ft. (14' X 16')
adjacent to the northeasterly line of Little League Drive. The attached map indicates the
proposed easement area.
On October 4, 2011,the Board of Water Commissioners unanimously voted to approve the Grant
of Easement to SCE and authorized staff to submit the easement to the Mayor and Common
Council for their approval (memo attached).
The attached resolution authorizes the execution of an easement to SCE over City property. All
recording fees associated with this easement will be paid by SCE.
