DR. AARON MOFFETT
AM THE
DisAbiiity Sports Festival
WHEREAS, Dr. Aaron Moffett successfully combines the fields of sport and exercise psychology
and adapted physical activity as an associate professor of Kinesiology at California State University,
San Bernardino; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Moffett focuses his teaching, practical, and research experiences on techniques
to maximize all people's abilities and accomplishments. He created and now directs the DisAbility
Sports Festival and All-Star Swim programs at CSUSB. Both of these programs are non-profit
organizations focused on increasing physical activity opportunities for people with any disability while
also improving life skills; and f
WHEREAS, Dr. Moffett has published several articles on psychological skills of people with and i
without disabilities. He has coached athletes with and without disabilities from the youth through
collegiate levels as well as consults with athletes at all levels; and i
WHEREAS, Dr. Moffett attended the Beijing Paralympic Games as a coach/leader with the
United States Paralympic Academy. He is currently the head swim coach and sport psychology
consultant for the United States Navy/Coast Guard Wounded Warriors and was awarded the Molina
Healthcare Community Champion in Education for his work with people with disabilities. P
NOW, THEREFORE, on this occasion, and in appreciation of his outstanding leadership,
dedication and impressive contribution to the City of San Bernardino and its citizens, we, on behalf o
the-Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino, do enjoin, commend and congratulate

Dr. Aaron Moffett successfully combines the fields of sport and

festival, people of ALL ages will be taught by world-renown Paralympics coaches and athletes
in 20 sports and physical activities such as basketball, tennis, wall climbing, track and field,

goalball(blind sport for all to try),cycling/hand cycling(will have tandem,single,and hand bikes for all abilities),quad
rugby(wheelchair sport for all to try),beep baseball(blind baseball for all to try),golf,martial arts,soccer,wheelchair
lacrosse,dance,and sit volleyball

THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL COMMENDING TWO

WHEREAS, In 1948, Tony's beloved mother, Mary, and father Rosario, both of whom became U.S.
Citizens after immigrating from Sicily, started the "The Mug" Italian restaurant with the help of Tony's older
brother, Vincent;and
WHEREAS, For 50 years, Tony, operating the restaurant at 1588 W. Highland Ave., has attributed the
success of this family-run business to our community through its loyalty, his civic involvement, his support of brave
local law enforcement personnel, and most importantly to his family. Tony has poured his life, heart and soul into
the restaurant as the owner-operator and his dedicated efforts will allow many families to enjoy this
San Bernardino Landmark for many years to come;and
WHEREAS, "The Mug" restaurant has served authentic homemade Italian food to millions of patrons,
including their world renowned pizza, hand-cut steaks and to this day still makes the ravioli by hand, with the
assistance over the years of Tony's son, Russell(who now enjoys a successful career as a real estate broker);and
WHEREAS, Tony's signature way of making every customer feel welcome is one of the best features of
one's dining experience at "The Mug". Tony beams as he welcomes entering patrons and thanks them as they
leave. "The Mug's"success is evidenced by Tony's understanding of how to keep customers happy;and
WHEREAS, Tony has raised two grandsons, one his namesake and the other, named Jeremy. After 15
years of Tony's hands-on instruction, Jeremy can now successfully duplicate the restaurant's original recipes and
has been managing all aspects of company functions, while Tony watches proudly;and
WHEREAS, Tony, now 82, is a hometown son and a true American Patriot. He has enjoyed the mutual
respect of his customers, many of whom have become lifelong friends; the likes of a box boy-now known as the
CEO of our hometown Stater Brothers corporation, Jack Brown; to a San Bernardino High School student- now
known as Congressman Jerry Lewis - to his celebrity friends, Mario Andretti and Johnny Rutherford of the
International auto racing world.Auto racing of all types is just another one of Tony's many deep passions. Many of
those individuals mentioned still frequent "The Mug" and keep coming back to experience the great food and
Tony's hospitality;and
WHEREAS, May God bless the lives of the Trozera family and "The Mug" restaurant for the community
landmark it has become, and may all businesses in our community strive to be just like Tony, successful and
lifelong contributory members of our community.
NOW, THEREFORE, on this occasion, may we all lift our "Mugs"in honor of Anthony "Tony" Trozera and
may it be resolved that the Mayor and Common Council celebrate Tony's 63 years of hard work, integrity, and
dedication to his family, God and Country by proclaiming, today, November Ph, ,2011 as Tony Trozera Day here in
the City of San Bernardino. We do hereby honor, commend, and celebrate the success of"The Mug"restaurant and
Anthony "Tony"Trozera.

It was the first restaurant in town to serve pizza,
and it was an immediate hit.
"Our mother made the sauce from scratch,"
Trozera said. "She didn't use a recipe. She just p
ut in a pinch of this and a pinch of that. We
watched her for a couple weeks and wrote down
everything she did. That's how we came up with
our recipe."
The Mug has been serving up pizza and pasta for
62 years now, and Trozera has been there the
whole time, greeting customers and treating
everyone like family. Even celebrity patrons have
become friends for life.
I once interviewed Academy Award-winning
actor Gene Hackman, a San Bernardino native,
and before I could ask him a single question, he
asked me one: "Is The Mug still there?" He gave
me his trademark grin when I said, "Yes!"
Auto racing legend Mario Andretti visited The
