Synopsis of Previous Commission/Council/Committee Action: 12-21-92 - Requests for CDBG financial assistance, in the amount of $2,268.520 as submitted by the Community Development Advisory Committee, approved. 02-15-93 - Plans approved and authorization granted to advertise for bids. 04-05-93 - Resolution No. 93-103 adopted awarding a contract to Kirkley Develop- ment for low bid price of $503,220.00. 06-07-93 - CCO #2 approved, for the re-roofing of Mill and Hernandez Community Centers, at a total cost of $55,133.65. 09-07-93 - CCO #6 approved, for the remodelof existing restroom at Delmann Heights Community Center, at a total cost of $56,960.00. 09-20-93 - Allocation of supplemental funds in the amount of $5,000.00 approved. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Recommended Motion: That Change Order No. 7 to the contract with Kirkley development, Inc:; for Improvements to the Mill Community Center, in accordance with Plan No. 8890, be approved; to authorize installment of a rubberized flooring system in the gym area, at an increase in the contract price of $18,865,0,07 from $623,351.75 to $642,216.75. Hardgrave Phone: 5025 Project Area: N/A Ward(s) Staff Report, Supporting Data Attached: Contract Change Order No. 7 FUNDING REQUIREMENTS: Amount: # 18,865.00 Source:CDBG-93/94 Budget Authority: Acct. #806-5903 ----------------------------------------------------------------- Commission/Council Notes: P Agenda Item No. : DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS STAFF REPORT APPROVAL OF CONTRACT CHANGE ORDER NO. 7 -- IMPROVEMENTS TO MILL COMMUNITY CENTER An amount of $14,760 was approved in the 1993/94 Community Development Block Grant Program, under Account No. 806-5903 , to finance the cost for installation of a new floor for the gym. A contract has been awarded for general improvements to several community centers, including Mill Community Center. In order to expedite the installation of the new floor, the Contractor was requested to provide a price quote. The Contractor submitted a price quote of $18, 865 for the new floor. A second quote was solicited from another Contractor for comparison. This second quote was 25% higher than the one for $18,865. We have reviewed this price quote and determined that it is fair and reasonable, in view of current pricing trends. The Department of Parks and Recreation would like for the new floor to be installed by change order to the current contract, in order to expedite completion of construction. Completion of all construction activities will allow the normal recreation programs to be resumed. Supplemental funds in the amount of $5, 000 were allocated at the Council Meeting of 9-20-93 , which increased the available funds to $19,760.
