Biography
Gloria Macias Harrison has balanced two careers plus family and community activism
since the early sixties. She is one of the founders of an alternative press, El Chicano
(1969), that developed because of a need to have a Chicano voice in the Inland Empire.
Today, El Chicano publishes weekly along with nine other community weeklies that
make up the family publishing business in San Bernardino County and North County San
Diego. Her husband Bill is the CEO, while daughter, Diana,is the general manager. E

Ms. Harrison served as President of Crafton Hills College from July 1, 2000 until her
ca
retirement on July 3, 2012. Before this assignment, she served as Vice President of 3:
Instruction at Crafton Hills College for six years. She also served as Dean of Humanities -a 0
at San Bernardino Valley College for three years. She has over 20 years of community o
college teaching experience. m

In 2012 she was elected to the San Bernardino Community College Board of Trustees for 0
