This is an entry level position; however, the candidate exceeds the minimum requirements because he has obtained an a Engineer-in-Training (FIT) certificate from the State of California Board for Professional Engineers,Land Surveyors, and Geologists; he has over 2 years of experience as a design engineer; and he holds a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university. Based upon his education, experience,and certifications,starting at Step#6 is being requested. It is critical to fill this position in order to deliver budgeted capital projects as well as the need to support recent increases in construction activities by developers and Packet Pg. 191 utilities. If the position is not filled, it will impact the delivery of capital projects and it will reduce the service levels for developers and utilities requesting permits. Manuel has been our lead Fire Prevention Technician within the CU multi-family program for the past year. The position U remained assigned to the Maintenance Division. a The additional funds saved with this reclassification will be a net sum of$8,576.15. That savings has been reflected in our proposed budget for 2014-15. It is critical to fill this position since the previous supervisory position was eliminated. Additionally,prior to the implementation of the City's Landscape Maintenance Plan, it is Aimportant that this position be filled.
