of $2 ,268 , 520 as submitted by the Community Develop-
ment Citizens Advisory Committee, approved.
02-15-93 - Plans approved and authorization granted to advertise
for bids .
04-05-93 - Resolution No. 93-103 adopted awarding a contract to
Kirkley Development for low bid price of $503 , 220 . 00 .
06-07-93 - CCO #2 approved, for the re-roofing of Mill and
Hernandez Community Centers, at a total cost of
$55, 133 . 65.

Recommended Motion:
That Change Order No. 6 to the contract with Kirkley Development,
Inc. for the improvements to Delmann Heights Community Center, in
accordance with Plan No. 8890 , be approved, to authorize the Con-
tractor to remodel the existing rest rooms, at an increase in the
contract price of $56 , 960 . 00, from $566 , 391 to $623 , 351 . 75.

Approval of Contract Change Order No. 6
Improvement of Delmann Heights
Community Center
An amount of $90, 000 was approved, in the 1992/93 Community De-
velopment Block Grant Program, to finance the cost for complete
renovation of the rest rooms at Delmann Heights and Mill Commun-
ity Centers, in order to bring them into compliance with current
codes and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Approximately $1 .5 million in CDBG funds were allocated in mid
1992/93 to finance the cost for general improvements to several
community centers. Delmann Heights was one of the centers to be
improved with these funds. The plans for the' Delmann Heights
Center directed that the rest rooms be remodeled, in order to
meet handicap accessibility requirements. Due to space con-
straints, the number of toilet stalls was reduced from 2 to 1 .
The Department of Parks and Recreation feels that one stall is
not sufficient to serve the participants in the programs offered
at this center. Therefore, the Department of Parks and
Recreation has requested that the rest rooms at this facility be
enlarged and the fixtures replaced. Enlarging the rest rooms
will allow two stalls to be provided, and still comply with the
Americans with Disabilities Act.
Enlargement and remodeling of these rest rooms will entail some
architectural re-design work. The Architect, for the
improvements currently under construction, submitted a price
quote of $3 , 712 to provide the necessary re-design. This amount
is being financed from the $90, 000 allocated in the 1992/93 CDBG
Program.
The Contractor has deferred completing the improvements in the
vicinity of these rest rooms, in order to avoid having to
demolish them to accomplish the enlargement.
The Contractor has submitted a price quote of $56 , 960 for expan-
sion and remodeling of the rest rooms at the Delmann Heights
Center. In addition, we will realize a credit of $5, 650 for the
items of work in the original contract that will not be
completed.
The cost for Change Order No. 6 will be financed from the
allocation of $90 , 000 under Account No. 100-80643, which will
leave a balance of approximately $29, 328 for the rest room at
Mill Center.

This expanded scope of work could be done by separate contract,
or by change order to our existing contract, with Kirkley
Development, Inc. Having this extra work done by contract would
require preparation of contract documents , result in the center
being under construction for about one-half of the upcoming
school year, and incur the cost for another move in.
Therefore, we recommend that Change Order No. 6 be approved.
