Council Woman Noreen Miller
Chairperson of the Ways and Means Committee
for the City of San Bernardino
300 N. "D" Street
San Bernardino, CA 92401
Dear Chairperson Miller:
Enclosed you will find Casa Ramona's request for funding assistance application for the 7th
Annual Mexican Independence Day Celebration at Seccombe Lake. Ag I'm sure you will recall,
this is the annual event that our organization has sponsored in which we light a fifty(50)foot
tower of fireworks, known as "Castillo." Each year at approximately 930 p.m_ that evening the
tower is lit.
As you will know from the attachments enclosed, the office of the Mayor, and the offices of
Thelma Press have been very involved with our program thus far. Our celebration is the most
authentic of all Mexican Day Celebration in the area. This year will mark the 6th year we have
brought the drum and bugle corp. from Colegio Bachilleres from our sister city Mexicali. They
alone with the Color Guard from El Centro, have help make our annual celebration, one of the
best in the State.
The total amount that Casa Ramona is seeking for this event is $18,700.00 dollars. This is the
only time that Casa Ramona comes before the Ways and Means committee seeking financial
assistance for any cultural activity throughout the year. We take great pride with being able to
present the most authentic, the most viable and important cultural event with the City of San
Bernardino.
Enclosed you will also find copies of letters sent to Ms. Ann Ramos, Director of Parks and
Recreations, The Chief of Police and to Mayor Minor and Members of the Council.
We at Casa Ramona look forward to your continued support in this event.
Very Sincerely,
Lourdes Collazo
