CITY OF SAN BERARDINO - REQUEST QU ST 9OR COUNCIL ACTION
STAFF REPORT
The Traffic Engineering Section received a request to
implement 2-hour parking along unrestricted areas of Orange Show
Lane, between "E" Street and Arrowhead Avenue. This request was
received from the Sidney L. Kline Company, who owns several
properties along this street.
Currently, Orange Show Lane is limited to 2 hours of
parking within the following areas :
Both sides -- From 100 feet east of "E" Street to 300
feet east of "E" Street
North side -- From 300 feet east of "E" Street to 425
feet east of "E" Street
° North side -- From Arrowhead Avenue to 365 feet west
of Arrowhead Avenue.
The request claims that employees from nearby businesses,
and patrons of the satellite wagering facility, park their
vehicles for long periods of time, thereby eliminating the
availability of on-street parking for their patrons .
An investigation completed by the Traffic Engineering
staff confirmed the requestee ' s claim. The occupants of two
other properties that front currently unrestricted areas of
Orange Show Lane were contacted regarding the request. One is
the Post Office and the other is the Blood Bank. The Post Office
did not object to limiting parking. However, the Blood Bank pre-
ferred that the area in front of their building remain unre-
stricted. Due to limited parking within their property, some of
their employees park on the street in this area. The area front-
ing the Blood Bank was, therefore, removed from the proposed
implementation of parking time limitation.
The Sidney C. Kline Company and the Post Office are the
only properties that will be directly affected by the proposed
parking limitation. Since implementing the 2-Hour parking
limitation is not expected to create any adverse impacts, Traffic
Engineering recommends approval of the request as modified.
Approval of the proposed resolution, in conjunction with
the existing limitations, will restrict all of Orange Show Lane,
between "E" Street and Arrowhead Avenue to 2 hours of parking,
except for the area fronting the Blood Bank property.
We recommend that the parking time limitation on the
remainder of Orange Show Lane, except for the Blood Bank
frontage, be approved.
