• SUBJECT: HIRE-A-VETERAN WEEK - May 5-11 , 1996
The first full week in May traditionally has been proclaimed
"Hire-A-Veteran Week" in California. It is a period when
special efforts are made to impress upon employers that
Veterans make good candidates for employment because of their
valuable experience, skills and training. The campaign also
help to promote and publicize the employment services and
programs that the Employment Development Department offers
veterans, and that veterans receive priority of those services .
To assist our office in promoting "Hire-A-Veteran Weeks "
we request the attached proposed proclamation be issued to
urge all local employers, organized labor, veterans organi-
zations , and other government leaders to support this campaign
to increase employment opportunities for the men and women
who have faithfully served our nation in the military.
Thanking you in advance for your support,
