STAFF REPORT
Bids for application of slurry seal on various streets
were opened at 2 : 00 p.m. , Tuesday, 9-23-97 .
A total of two bids were received, ranging from
$342 , 147 . 20 to $371 ,573 . 07 . The low bid of $342 , 147 . 20 is 78 . 3%
over the Engineer' s Estimate of $191 , 900 . 00 .
Below is the total estimated project cost, based upon the
actual low bid price:
Construction Contract $ 342 , 147 . 20
Engineering & Inspection (W.O. #1520) 10 , 000 . 00
Sub-Total $ 352 , 147 . 20
Contingencies (5%) ± 17 , 852 . 80
TOTAL ESTIMATED PROJECT COST $ 370 , 000 . 00
Funding for the estimated cost of $370 , 000 . 00 is in
Account No. 126-369-5504-1520 .
All costs incurred for this project will be financed from
the available balance allocated in the 1996/97 Gas Tax Budget
under Account No. 126-369-5504---1520 , and the $500 , 000 allocated
in the 1997/98 Gas Tax Budget, under Account No. 126-369-5504-
7097 .
The Engineer' s Estimate apparently did not fully reflect
the actual costs for removing and replacing failed sections, and
filling cracks. Therefore, the low bid is the best that we can
reasonably expect to receive.
