Background: In May 2012, the Police Department purchased a new software system from Lexipol, LLC. The new system revised and updated the department policy manual and incorporated a training component. The Lexipol system is web-based software that has been integrated into the Police Intranet and is available to all Police staff. The training component is a scenario-based daily training bulletin that provides training based on the police department's specific operating policies. See Exhibit"A" attached hereto for a summary of features of the Lexipol system. The policy manual and Daily Training Bulletins have proven to be valuable tools for the Police Department. This system has two separate annual cost components: the Daily Training Bulletin component in the amount of$22,000 and an annual policy manual update subscription fee in the amount of $5,500 as described in Exhibit `B," attached hereto. The Daily Training Bulletin fee was paid under Purchase Order # 2014-00000357 on October 17, 2013. Currently, we have reached the end of the subscription period and would like to increase the purchase order to $27,500 to pay for the current year's subscription fee. The Police Department will be returning to Council each year to request approval of the annual fees for this service. Sufficient funds have been budgeted for this item in account number 001-210-0001-5172.
