He attended Ramona and Riley Elementary Schools; then Arrowview Middle School. He began his high school education at Pacific High School but with the opening of Indian Springs High School, he became a student there in the 10th grade. He will graduate in May 2015 and currently has a 4.2 Grade Point Average (GPA). Erick's dad, Alvaro, restores and sell cars. His mother, Juanita, is self-employed in the house cleaning business. He has four sisters: Erika is in college. Jocelyn is a 10th grade student at Indian Springs and his two younger sisters, Lizeth — a 2nd Grader and Maya — a 1St Grader, attend E. Neal Roberts Elementary School. Munchers, Mona and Pirungis, are his three Chihuahuas. Erick is involved in the Key Club, Movie Club and the Remote Control Club. He is also a 2014 College Prep Scholar for Questbridgel. He tutors students who have challenges with their class assignments and works as a student cafeteria worker. He takes a voluntary chemistry AP (Advanced Placement) class every Monday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. This is his favorite subject. Erick likes the teachers at Indian Spring because they are very dedicated to helping students get to college. If he could change anything, it would be the mindset of all the students so they could understand the importance of a good education. Erick is unsure about where he will be attending college but he does know he will stay in California and attend a UC or CSU college. He's also unsure about his major, perhaps engineering or business administration. He is a part of the Cosmos program and will attend University of California-Davis in about two months on a special student orientation type program2. 40 His message to students is to stay in school, stay on task and prepare adequately as that would make a big difference in the future. 10 1 for info on Questbridge: http://www.questbridge.org/about-questbridge/mission-a-vision 10 2 for more information on the COSMOS program: httPs://cosmos-ucop.ucdavis.edu/main/about
