Designating Certain Streets or Portions Thereof as through Highways and Establishing a Two-Way Stop at the Intersection of Pershing Avenue and 35Th Street." (#2968) Current Business Registration Certificate: Not Applicable Financial Impact: Account Budgeted Amount: $188,000 Account No. 001-400-0026-5111 Account Description: Materials and Supplies Balance as of: $37,618.31 Estimated Cost: $ 800.00 Balance after approval of this item: $38,818.31 o Please note this balance does not indicate available funding. It does not include non-encumbered reccurring expenses or expenses incurred, but not yet processed. Motion: Adopt the Resolution. Synopsis of Previous Council Action: None. Background: The City's Public Works Department received a request to evaluate the intersection of Pershing Avenue and 35th Street for stop signs. The intersection is currently uncontrolled. Traffic Engineering staff evaluated the intersection including collision history, traffic volumes and road conditions in accordance with the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (CA MUTCD). Based upon this evaluation, staff has determined that installation of 2- way stop controls would enhance traffic operation at the intersection. Since the north and southbound approaches carry more traffic, it is recommended that the east and westbound approaches be stop controlled. Staff, therefore, recommends that the attached Resolution be approved authorizing the installation of stop controls with standard signs and markings on the east and westbound approaches to the intersection of Pershing Avenue and 35th Street.
