Synopsis of Previous Council Action: There are no Previous Council Actions regarding a transfer of a trust account grant donation to an existing grant account taken on similar activities in the past ten years. Background: The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department("Parks Department") is requesting a transfer from the Senior Services trust account in the amount of$1200 for the purchase of Volunteer Reporter computer software. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program(RSVP) submitted an application and was awarded$1200 from Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. for the Local Community Contribution Grant. RSVP provided a narrative and proposal of the purchase of Volunteer Reporter computer software. Volunteer Reporter will ensure efficiency and accurate tracking of RSVP volunteer activities. The use of Volunteer Reporter also ensures compliance with the primary grantor's (the Corporation for National and Community Service)records management mandate. The City has participated in the federally funded RSVP for over 35 years. RSVP volunteers (commonly individuals ages 55 years and older) share their skills and life experiences with constituents and program recipients. RSVP volunteers serve from a few hours to forty hours per Updated: 4/28/2014 by Georgeann"Gigi"Hanna A Packet Pg. 155 3064 week performing duties such as: supporting senior lunch programs, supporting and visiting local hospitals, collaborating with local law enforcement as Citizens on Patrol volunteers,providing transportation to seniors,providing activities at senior centers, and participating in disaster preparedness with the American Red Cross. RSVP staff recruits volunteers,provide work sites, conduct site visits, and prepare reports according to grant requirements. Moreover,updated computer software will ensure the accuracy and accountability of the RSVP volunteer activities.
