POSITION JUSTIFICATIONS
The following are justifications for appointments, promotions and other personnel actions to be
reviewed by the Mayor and Common Council at the November 3, 1997, Council meeting.
CLASSIFIED
GENERAL FUND
1. Recreation Program Coordinator (Weeks. Keith) - Appointment
PARKS, RECREATION & CONMUNITY SERVICES
The Recreation Program Coordinator position has been vacant since February 1997.
This position was downgraded from Recreation Supervisor as part of the Department's
FY 1997-98 budget reductions.
This position is essential to the continued operations of the Sports Section in the
Department. It is the only position to coordinate the Adult Sports Activities, which are
revenue-generating and self-sustaining programs. As such, the salary for this position
is partially offset by user fees at approximately fifty percent.
2. Administrative Operations Supervisor I (Bryson, Sadie I.) - Promotion
PUBLIC SERVICES
A reorganization of the Fleet Division was approved during the FY 1997-98 budget
deliberations resulting in a savings of$51,400.
Savings resulted from the elimination of one (1) Administrative Operations Supervisor
II; one (1) Lead Store Keeper; one (1) Equipment Mechanic I; one (1) Equipment
Mechanic II; and, two (2) Equipment Mechanic Supervisor positions.
10. Lead Equioment Mechanic (Wilmarth, Ronald S.) - Promotion
PUBLIC SERVICES
This position is a reinstatement. The employee was bumped during the reductions in
force as a result of Fiscal Year 1997-98 budget reductions. Due to recent voluntary
demotions and retirements, the employee is being reinstated to his previous position
per compliance with Civil Service Rules.

This position is a reinstatement. The employee was bumped during the reductions in

per Civil Service Rules.
