Background: CalRecycle makes curbside supplemental payments pursuant to the Public Resources Code §14549.6(a) for the City being an eligible curbside operator and payment is based on the volume of beverage containers reported to CalRecycle. As part of the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) curbside supplemental payment program, the share of$15 million is to be distributed for the CY 2012. The payment is based on the volume of beverage containers reported to CalRecycle by the City's operation for the period of January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012. CalRecycle derives the rate of $0.0114663679 per beverage container by dividing the total volume of beverage containers collected by all eligible curbside and neighborhood drop-off programs into the $15 million. Statute requires the operators of the curbside and neighborhood drop-off programs to expend the payment for activities related to beverage container recycling. Funds are credited to the City for the Curbside Supplemental Payment for Calendar year. Expenditure of these funds must relate to Beverage Container Recycling. The appropriation of $16,866.80 to Materials and Supplies within 21 a Integrated Waste Management budget is hereby approved. 22 23 SECTION 2. The Director of Administrative Services is hereby authorized to 24 appropriate $16,866.80 from the Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery 25 (CalRecycle) for Curbside Recycling of Beverage Containers;received in G/L Account 527- 26 400-0000-4896, Project 0975; and increase the FY 2013/2014 Material and Supplies budget, 27 co 28 Packet-248 1 Account No. 527-400-0098-5111, Project 0975.
