Receipt of a Sponsorship in the Amount of$25,000 from the Coca Cola Foundation to Purchase
and Install an Outdoor Fitness Station at Lytle Creek Park and Sponsor the Parks & Recreation
Department's 2014 Spring Youth Basketball League that Offers Youth Ages 7 Yrs. to 18 Yrs a
70% Discounted Registration Fee. (#2905)

program sponsorship given
for planning and implementing programs $25,000.

Background:
The Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department was selected by the Coca Cola Foundation to
promote their "Healthy and Active Lifestyles" priority through innovative programming. Since this
priority supports access to exercise, physical activity and nutritional education that motivates behavior
modification and encourages lifestyle/behavioral changes the below two programs were awarded $12,500
each chosen to promote the Foundation's mission.
2014 Spring Youth Basketball League: $12,500 will underwrite the operational cost for the Youth
Basketball League that will serve 150-200 youth citywide ages 7 to 17 years old. Operational costs to
include:
• Officials to officiate ninety-six (96) Saturday games
• Score keepers to score ninety-six (96) Saturday games
• Team uniform/jerseys for 150 -200 participants
• Team Awards for 150 -200 participants
• Staff Coaching participants 60 minute sessions, 2 -3 days/week
Outdoor Fitness Station in the Lytle Creek Park: $12,500 will underwrite the cost to purchase and install
outdoor fitness equipment next to the recently installed walking path at Lytle Creek Park. City residents

would have the opportunity to participate in both structured and non-structured exercise and physical
activities year-round. Examples of equipment to be purchase with funds to include:
• Break benches
• Chest/Back Press
• Cardio Stepper
• Assisted Row/Push Up
• Balance Steps
• Ab Crunch/Leg Left
• Squat Press
Programs such as these will not only meet the Coca Cola's guidelines will encouraged on-going impact on
the residents'healthy food choices.

This sponsorship is to ensure that these programs are successful in making a positive difference in our r_

communities. As part of the sponsorship, Coca-Cola requests that the San Bernardino Parks, Recreation a

and Community Services Department provide a brief end of year summary report detailing program c
results. These may include, but are not limited to, the number of League participants, number of fitness
stations and event photos.
