Synopsis of Previous Council Action: None. Background: Since 2005 The Mexico Cafe, at 892 E. Highland Avenue, has hosted the annual Dollars 4 Dogs fundraiser to raise money in support of the San Bernardino Police Department's K-9 operations. This annual event raises thousands of dollars each year that are used to purchase, train, and support police canines. This year the 10th Annual Dollars 4 Dogs fundraiser is Monday, April 14, 2014, and we will be introducing our two newest K-9 teams; possible because of donations raised at previous Dollars 4 Dogs events. The fundraiser is successful because of the many volunteers that work alongside The Mexico Cafe staff in this day-long event. As a thank you to volunteers for their hours of hard work, the volunteers are given a specially designed t-shirt commemorating the event. Purchase of the t- shirts is funded from previous donations to the K-9 unit and held in the City's K-9 Donation trust account. This year the K-9 unit will be purchasing a total of 120 t-shirts. The selected vendor is Geri's Screenprinting, LLC, a local vendor and the lowest cost. Sufficient funds are available in the K-9 Donation Special Deposits Trust Account number 772- 2327.212. The available unspent balance in this account is $41,417.47.
