Dr. Alan Kay
Bio
Dr. Alan Kay, principal of Indian Springs High School, is a strong
instructional leader who has fostered an engaging learning environment
that holds students to high academic st4ndards and provides teachers with
high-quality professional learning opportunities.
Dr. Kay began his career in education in 1998 as a middle school science
teacher in the San Bernardino City Unified School District. Alan was
selected as a middle school vice principal and served in this role from
2003 to 2006. In 2006, Alan was named the coordinator of Secondary
Math and Science. In 2012, Alan was selected as the first principal of the
new Indian Springs High School.
Alan's mission is to ensure that Indian Springs High School students
graduate well prepared to enter a two- or four-year college or university,
an apprenticeship or a formal job training program through the Linked
Learning career pathways that he has worked to establish at the school.
His dedication and hard work have made it possible for Indian Springs
students to participate in the school's Health Academy, a part of the new
Advanced Medical Manufacturing Academy. Alan has pledged to work
collaboratively with the community, Loma Linda University, and other
partners to create an engaging, academically rigorous program that will
prepare students for the 21 St-Century workplace.
Dr. Kay graduated from Cal State San Bernardino in 1998 with a
bachelor's degree in biology. He continued his education at the University
of Redlands, earning a master's degree in Educational Administration in
2003 and a doctorate of Education, Education Justice in 2011.
