for Police Department Ranges P-4 (Lieutenant), P-5 (Captain), P-6 (Assistant Chief of Police)
and P-7 (Chief of Police) Effective August 1, 2013. (#2748)

Financial Impact:
The overall Charter 186 financial impact for the Police Management group will result in a
decrease of$7,511.61 to the General Fund.
Motion: Adopt the Resolution.
Synopsis of Previous Council Action:
On March 18, 2013, the Mayor and Common Council approved the established salaries for
Police Department Ranges P-4 (Lieutenant) and P-5 (Captain), effective August 1, 2012; and P-6
(Assistant Police Chief), and P-7 (Police Chief) effective March 18, 2013, and authorized the
Human Resources Division Manager to amend Resolution No. 6429 to reflect this action.
Background:
Section 186 of the City Charter established a formula for setting salaries for local safety
members, effective August 1 of each year. An agreement was reached for the 10 cities to be used
for this year's calculations. The salaries of those 10 cities have been averaged to determine 2013
salaries for Police Management classifications.
The ten cities agreed upon for the above classifications are:
Costa Mesa Murrieta
Fairfield Pomona
Fullerton Roseville
Hayward San Buena Ventura
Huntington Beach Santa Rosa
2013 MONTHLY SALARY RANGES
Effective August 1, 2013, the new monthly salaries for P-4, P-5, P-6 and P-7 are as
follows:
