Synopsis of Previous Council Action: On November 14, 2013, the Personnel Committee meeting was cancelled due to no quorum; therefore, the City Manager recommended that the proposed item be forwarded to the Mayor and Common Council for adoption. Background: The Parks Maintenance Division Manager performs an array of duties on behalf of the City and warrants a broad range of field experience. A typical way of acquiring the field work experience is on-the-job training. The proposed change to the "Minimum Qualifications" section of the job description will provide significant value to field experience, significantly broaden the pool of applicants, and provide flexibility to seek an individual with the essential skills to execute the duties and expectations of the position. A Bachelor's degree will still be desired but not required. This item was reviewed and approved by the San Bernardino Confidential Management Group on November 6, 2013.
