The purpose and mission is to provide education and empower families towards a life of resiliency and sustainability, to build the community, while empowering and strengthening parents to raise happy, healthy, nurturing families. Since 2001 Solomon's Ujamaa Center has managed various humanitarian and educational services both privately and government funded. Solomon's primary emphasis is geared toward literacy and parental education and child bonding. In addition to our literacy programs Solomon's distributes food to over 150 families the3rd Wednesday of every month. Solomon's have also collaborated with other organzations to host our yearly "Community Caring & Sharing Partnership Day" where over 1500 people were in attendance. For 3 years Solomon's was also a provider for the California Department of Education's Supplemental Educational Services providing Math and Language tutoring with over 150 students each year for the School Districts in the Ontario, Rialto, Fontana and San Bernardino. Pastor Owusu Hodari is also a member of the Inland Empire Concerned African American Churches and Johari J. Hodari, PhD is also the President of Leading Ladies International, Inc. Johari J. Hodari, PhD is also a Certified Motheread/Fatheread Literacy Facilitator for the County of Firsts San Bernardino. Pastor Owusu and Johari Hodari have received numerous commendations from both civic and private organizations. On October 16, 2013 Solomon's Ujamaa Center, Inc signed a collaborative contract agreement with the City of San Bernardino Library Board of Directors to continue the ongoing operation of the Dorothy Ingrham Library. The name of the collaborative is The Dorothy Ingrham Library/Solomon's Ujamaa Literacy Center. This collaborative will enable the library to expand its hours of operation and provide additional programs to continue the legacy Ms. Dorothy Inghram.
