There is no financial impact to establish the position.
Motion: Adopt the Resolution.
Synopsis of Previous Council Action:
On September 25, 2013, the Personnel Committee Chairman cancelled the meeting of September
26, 2013, and recommended that the proposed item be forwarded to Mayor and Common
Council for approval/adoption.
Background:
The Public Works Department is requesting approval to transition a part-time, limited term,
Senior Customer Service Representative/Dispatcher position into a full-time, permanent position
within the Integrated Waste Management Division.
The position is currently filled with a part-time employee within the department. Due to the large
number of customer service requests and calls, this position should be full-time as the part-time
status does not meet the needs of the department.
The part-time position is currently funded through the Integrated Waste Enterprise Fund, part-
time salaries. If the position is approved for full-time status, it will be funded through the
Integrated Waste Enterprise Fund, full-time salaries.
This item was reviewed and approved by the International Union of Operating Engineers
(IUOE), General Unit Bargaining representative, on October 2,2013.

The Public Works Department is requesting authorization to add one (1) full-time Senior Customer
Service Representative/Dispatcher within the Integrated Waste Management Division. M

The current Customer Service Representative (PT) is filled with a part-time employee. Due to the large N
number of customer service requests (approx. 1,200 per month), the addition of one (1) Senior >

Customer Service Representative/Dispatcher is being requested as the part-time position does not meet W

the needs of the department. The Senior Customer Service Representative/Dispatcher holds an N

jimmense amount of responsibilities that CSR (PT) cannot fulfill for the department. Such
duties/responsibilities include: Dispatching In &Out both Residential and Commercial Refuse Drivers to

customer/residential requests, acquire refuse driver's notes in customer accounts and relay to rn
supervisors; assign, organize and complete work orders taken by the Water Department; schedule,
assign and fulfill daily Bulk items Pick-ups(BIP), route and monitor CRM's,create work orders for special v

assistance customers and dispatch work orders to yard man, organize work packs for next day service
(Deliveries, Exchanges, Removals of carts, BIP,Courtesy Pick-up of bags), GPS for Supervisors and driver Q
assistance. In addition to these daily responsibilities, the Senior CSR also assists the City's Water o
Department with any questions pertaining to refuse such as: Bulk item Pick-ups, Courtesy Bags, work d
orders, accuracy of addresses and cross streets, service days, daily research and emaii old work orders (L
