MARCOS SILVA MORALES
Student of the Month
Sierra High School — Senior
Marcos AS187(a,yahoo.com
Marcos Silva Morales was born in Puebla, Mexico, but came to the United States at the age
of four. He attended Alice Birney Elementary School in Colton, Colton Middle School in Colton and
Curtis Middle School in San Bernardino. He attended San Gorgonio High School but is now a
student at Sierra High School where he has been since April 2013.
Marcos plans to graduate in June, 2014, and then join the U. S. Marine Corps. He is
preparing for his military career by participating in the M.E.P. (Military Enlistment Preparation)
program at Sierra.
Marcos shared how appreciative he is of his family, especially his mother and father. He
wants us to know that he was cared for by both parents. Unfortunately, his mother, Angela, passed
away October 2010 from breast cancer. Even with losing his mother, he boasts how important the
church has been in healing the family. His father, Alejandro, works for a wood cutting factory and
works hard to provide for his family. He has an adult sister, Alejandra, who has two children and one
on the way. His older brother, Oscar, works with his father in the wood cutting business. His sister,
Arely, is an 8t" grade student at Curtis Middle School and brother, Alexis, is a 6t" grade student at
Lytle Creek Elementary School
Marcos has played soccer in the past and now he enjoys running. He enjoys being a part of
the M.E.P. program and is thankful for the dedicated teachers, counselor and staff at Sierra High
School.
Marcos would like for students to know they should make the best of their education because
it would benefit everyone a lot.
Marcos shared a personal thought: "I've overcome struggles that tried to bring me down but
I know I am a very bright and intelligent person".
