Motion: Approve job descriptions as proposed. Synopsis of Previous Council Action: On March 21, 2013, the Personnel Committee Chairman recommended that the job description revisions for Fire Engineer(P-3) and Fire Captain (P-4) be forwarded to the Mayor and Common Council for adoption. Background: The Fire Department is requesting a minor technical revision to the Fire Engineer (P-3) and Fire Captain (P-4) job descriptions in order to maintain compliance with the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles. The proposed changes will only impact the technical language pertaining to State of California, Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) driver's licenses. Pursuant to Vehicle Code section 12804.11 and due to DMV procedural changes, the current job descriptions are inaccurate. The DMV now allows Fire Department personnel to possess several different classes of driver's licenses; the current job descriptions require only a specific class of license. These items were reviewed and approved by the San Bernardino City Professional Firefighter's Local 891, Fire Safety Bargaining Unit representative, on March 20, 2013.
