OF
THE MAYOR AND COADION COUNCIL HO)VOR MY i
'MORMON HELPING HANDS"
WHEREAS, parks are an essential component to the individual health, well-being,
happiness and quality of life for all human beings, making our communities more attractive
places to live, work and play. Parks assist us in becoming more connected with nature and
our families; contributing to youth development, social and adtitral exchange, public health, r
recreation, environmental health, and community liitilding; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Bernardino encourages and supports, efforts by its
citizens, service clubs,faith-based organizations, and others to promote. "Mormon Helping
Hands" is a significant international volunteer program sponsored by the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints which provides community assistance and disaster relief
throughout the world, and

WHEREAS, on Saturday, April 27, 2013, thousands of volunteers all over California
worked in their communities in a day of service. Volunteers from the Church of Jesus Christ r
of Latter-day Saints served in San Bernardino and our local mountain area beautifying our
community. All were welcome to help by actively participating and experiencing the joy of
serving and giving back to our community; and
WHEREAS, "Mormon Helping Hands", wearing green city beautification shirts under 3
their yellow helping hands vests lead the charge in picking up trash, getting rid of tall grass
and weeds, roof repair, electrical repairs, leveling/refilling and cleaning playgrounds,
painting over graffiti and touching up other painted areas at Wildwood and Perris Hill Parks.
NOW, THEREFORE, we, the "Mayor and Common Council of the City of
San Bernardino, do hereby offer a million thanks and officially recognize the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and all volunteers who assisted our community on
Saturday, April 27, 2013 as we honor
U ORMN HELPING HANDS"
for its annual work celebration beautifying our city.
