The citywide gun buyback program offers gift cards for voluntary surrender of firearms, while engaging our community in the common goal of reducing gun violence. In partnership with the Food-4-Less Corporation, the San Bernardino Police Department will host a gun buyback effort in which individuals can surrender firearms—no questions asked. Where will the event occur? 280 S. "E" St. /The Arrowhead Credit Union Baseball Stadium What is the Date and times? Saturday/ December 18, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. What is the amount per gun? $50.00 gift card for hand guns, shotguns and rifles. $100.00 gift card for assault weapons (As classified in the State of California). Is this a sting?Will Police be taking pictures of participants and writing down license plate numbers? No. The gun buyback is not a sting. It is an anonymous process in which individuals can surrender their weapons, no questions asked. Law enforcement will not be attempting to identify participants in any way. Is there a limit to how many firearms 1 can turn in? No. However we reserve the right to limit the number of gift cards an individual can receive regardless of the number of firearms the individual has surrendered. What happens if I decide to turn in a gun at the buyback, and then decide I want it back? Once the firearm is surrendered at the gun buyback it becomes the property of the San Bernardino Police Department. The firearm will not be returned. What happens if you run out of gift cards? The quantities are limited and are subject to availability. Will you be checking to see if the guns are reported lost or stolen? Yes. All weapons will be checked for lost or stolen status. Every effort will be made to return lost or stolen firearms to their rightful owner. All weapons will be checked for lost or stolen status, and if applicable will be returned to the rightful owners. All other firearms will be prepared for destruction. Can I turn in a gun for someone else? Yes. The gun buyback program is completely anonymous and no questions will be asked. How is this event being paid for? The event is being paid for through a generous donation from one of our community partners, Food-4-Less Corporation. � � - . . .
