Synopsis of Previous Council Action:
11-16-09 The Mayor and Common Council authorized the Director of Development Services to
execute Contract Change Order No. Two with Matich Corporation for the
Realignment of Viaduct Boulevard between 2"d Street and Yd Street, per Project Plan
Nos. 12325 & 12326.
07-06-09 The Mayor and Common Council authorized the Director of Development Services to
execute Contract Change Order No. One with Matich Corporation for the
Realignment of Viaduct Boulevard between 2nd Street and 3'd Street, per Project Plan
Nos. 12325 & 12326.
02-17-09 The Mayor and Common Council adopted a Resolution awarding a contract to Matich
Corporation for the Realignment of Viaduct Boulevard between 2"d Street and 3rd
Street,per Project Plan Nos. 12325 & 12326 and authorized the Director of Finance to
amend the FY 2008/09 budget.
Recommended Motion:
Authorize the Director of Development Services to execute Contract Change Order No. Three
with Matich Corporation in the amount of $32,238.62 for the Realignment of Viaduct

Subject:
Authorize the Director of Development Services to execute Contract Change Order No. Three
with Matich Corporation for the Realignment of Viaduct Boulevard between 2"d Street and 3'd
Street(SD08-01),per Project Plan Nos. 12325 & 12326.
Background:
On February 17, 2009, the Mayor and Common Council approved a Resolution awarding a
contract to Matich Corporation for the Realignment of Viaduct Boulevard between 2nd Street and
3`d Street. This project, which is now completed, consisted of removing Viaduct Boulevard
between 2nd Street and Yd Street and reconstructing the realigned road to create a 90-degree
intersection opposite Giovanola Street at 2"d Street. This realignment was necessary to
accommodate the new Metrolink Parking Structure that will be starting construction in early
2010. A traffic signal has been installed at the intersection of Viaduct Boulevard and 2"d Street
as part of the project.
On July 6, 2009, the Mayor and Common Council authorized the Director of Development
Services to execute Contract Change Order No. One with Matich Corporation for the
Realignment of Viaduct Boulevard between 2"d Street and 3`d Street, per Project Plan Nos. 12325
& 12326 in the amount of$21,625.00.
On November 16, 2009, the Mayor and Common Council authorized the Director of
Development Services to execute Contract Change Order No. Two with Matich Corporation for
the Realignment of Viaduct Boulevard between 2nd Street and Yd Street, per Project Plan Nos.
12325 & 12326 in the amount of$164,016.54.
Change Order No. Three:
During construction the contractor was directed to complete additional work after discovering a
discrepancy on elevations located on the south side of 3`d Street between the proposed and
existing sidewalk, curb and gutter. Additional survey services were required that were not
originally anticipated and were not included in the contractor's original bid. The descriptions
and justification of these items are delineated in the attached supporting data titled Contract
Change Order No. Three. Following the approval and execution of this change order,the project
will be closed out.
Financial Impact:
The revised estimated project costs are as follows:

This change order represents a net increase of 2.4%of the original contract amount. The total of
all change orders to date equals 18.0% of the original contract amount. There are sufficient funds
budgeted for this project with the inclusion of this Change Order.
Recommendation:
Authorize the Director of Development Services to execute Contract Change Order No. Three
with Matich Corporation for the Realignment of Viaduct Boulevard between 2nd Street and 3`d
Street(SD08-01), per Project Plan Nos. 12325 & 12326 in the amount of$32,238.62.
