Synopsis of Previous Council Action: ' None. Backeround• The Traffic Engineering section of the Public Works Department received a request to evaluate the intersection of Revere Avenue and Humbolt Avenue for stop controls. Both Revere Avenue and Humbolt Avenue are local residential streets and the intersection is currently uncontrolled. Upon reviewing the field conditions, Traffic Engineering staff expanded the evaluation to include all intersections on Revere Avenue between Humbolt Avenue and Kendall Drive. There are three intersections within this section of Revere Avenue, including Humbolt Avenue, Universal Avenue, and Clemson Street. Each of these streets are local residential streets and all three of the subject intersections are currently uncontrolled"T" type intersections. Staff evaluated the intersections for the application of stop controls in accordance with the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). The evaluations included a review of collision history, traffic volumes, and road conditions. Staff determined that traffic safety would be enhanced with stop controls installed on the side street approaches to Revere Avenue at these three intersections. The total cost for installing the subject stop controls is estimated to be approximately $1,500. Approval of the attached Resolution will authorize this action; however, this may need to be deferred until the City's financial condition improves.
