HomeMy WebLinkAbout03.A- Presentations `` t.2 • - • JACQUELINE MARTINEZ Student of the Month San Bernardino High School — Senior 0 November 19, 2012 10 Jacqueline Martinez was born in Fontana and attended Oleander Elementary 10 School and Fontana Middle School. She is now a senior at San Bernardino High 40 School where she will graduate in May of 2013. She currently has a 4.1 Grade Point Average (GPA). 10 Jacqueline has one sister, Priscilla, who is currently attending Bonnie Oehl. Her mom, Arlene, is a housewife and stay-at-home mom and her dad is a service advisor at Orange Coast Dealership in Costa Mesa. She admires her dad who has encouraged college since she was in kindergarten. He reminds her that hard work beats talent. Her two dogs are Amp and Lollipop. Jacqueline is on the water polo team and is a member of the Spanish Honor Society. Her favorite subject is history and what she likes most about her school is there's always something new to learn. Jacqueline is currently taking four AP (Advanced Placement) classes. If she could change anything, she would make all students care about their future. Jacqueline is very involved in her church, St. Dennis in Diamond Bar, where she volunteers her time as a catechism assistant. Jacqueline once considered the military as a career but now leaning towards a state university in New York City where she will major in political science and minor in English. Her ultimate goal is to become an attorney. He attended Bonnie Oehl Elementary before going to Del Vallejo Middle School and finishing at Rodriguez Prep. Jose is now a senior at Pacific High School where he will graduate in May of 2013 and carries a 4.55 grade point average (GPA). Jose's mom, Elizabeth, is a stay-at-home mom and in her spare time, she does sales work. His father, Arnulfo, is a landscaper. Jose has two brothers, one younger and one older. His brother Arnulfo, Jr. is a student at Cal State University, Long Beach and his younger brother, Andres, is a student at Fairfax Elementary School. Jose has three dogs and their names are Chico, Peter and Scooby. Jose's school activities include water polo, swim team, Key Club, Alive Club, AVID Club, National Honor Society, and the Asterisk Program. He likes being able to play sports at school. When asked about what he would change at Pacific, he said, "Its reputation. Pacific is not a bad school; it just has a bad reputation". His favorite subject is Physics, and his participation in the Asterisks Program landed him a job last summer at the E. Neal Roberts Elementary School. Other community activities were volunteering and working with teen groups at Judson Baptist Church. Jose is undecided where he will attend college but he is preparing by taking the 10 right classes including four AP (Advanced Placement) classes this school year. He wants to become a mechanical engineer. Jose would like all students to know they can have fun without skipping school and classes. Be active and take advantage of activities. He is having fun learning and feels that all students can do the same.
