Financial Impact: Funding for this project is available in the FY 11-12 Budget in the amount of$186,026 from CIP Project No. "TC04-035 Traffic Signal at Rialto Avenue and Meridian Avenue" (Account No. 242-160-5504-7653-0025), and$ 58,026 being funded by"SS-B Construct Accessibility Improvements at Various Locations" (Account No. 258-160-5504-7202-0025). The cost of this project will be partially reimbursed in the amount of$200,000 by SANBAG under terms of the Local Stimulus Program(LSP). Motion: Adopt Resolution. Synopsis of Previous Council Action: 07/05/11 - The Mayor and Common Council adopted FY 2011-12 to FY 2015-16 Capital Improvement Program(5-Year CIP). Background: This project consists of the installation of a new traffic signal and related street improvements at the intersection of Rialto Avenue and Meridian Avenue. This traffic signal will be fully actuated and will replace the existing four-way stop controls. In addition to the installation of a new traffic signal, this project will include upgrade of the curb ramps at the intersection to conform to the latest requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act(ADA). On July 1, 2009, the San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG) approved a $31.4 million Local Stimulus Program (LSP) for participating local agencies within the County of San Bernardino. The City of San Bernardino was approved for an allocation of $2,898,703 by the SANBAG Board of Directors. On March 10, 2010, the City Council approved adding this project to a list of projects to receive funding under the City's approved LSP. SANBAG has approved $200,000 for this project. After completion of construction, SANBAG will reimburse the cost of the project in accordance with rules of the program. Local advertising included the San Bernardino County Sun Newspaper, F. W. Dodge, Construction Data Hot Sheet, Reed Construction Data, Bid America, Construction Bid Source, and the San Bernardino Area Chamber of Commerce. Information was also posted on the City's website.
