RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND COMMON COUNCIL COMMENDING THE INLAND EMPIRE JOB CORPS CENTER WHEREAS, the Inland Empire Job Corps Center was established at 3173 Kerry Street in San Bernardino in 1978. In its 34 year history in San Bernardino, the Inland Empire Job Corps Center has provided thousands of young people with the opportunity to achieve their academic and vocational career goals; and WHEREAS, there are a total of 320 students enrolled at the Inland Empire Job Corps Center and approximately 210 are working to complete their high school diploma. The students also receive career technical training in fields such as carpentry, clinical medical assistant, culinary arts, electrical, landscaping, medical office support, nurse assistant/home aide, office administration, painting, pharmacy technician, plumbing and tile setting; and WHEREAS, in January 2012, the Inland Empire Job Corps Center had a graduate placement rate of 83.8% and was ranked #1 in the nation out of 125 Job Corps Centers by the U.S. Department of Labor; and WHEREAS, in 2011, the Inland Empire Job Corps Center students donated 4,189 hours of community service to organizations and events such as: the Veterans Exploration Garden, the Salvation Army, Muscoy Elementary School, Joe Baca Foundation Baseball & Fitness Clinic, Arrowhead United Way "College Cruise", Boys and Girls Club 18th Annual Chocolate Fantasy, Habitat for Humanity, The Rock Church, Cancer Relay for Life, CSUSB Lead Summit, Eco Fest 2012, Global Youth Day, School of Hope Earth Day Project, Assembly Member Wilmer Amina Carter's 5th Annual Veteran's Appreciation Reception, City of San Bernardino's 10th Annual Mayor's Run, San Bernardino Area Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours Mixer, Light House for the Blind, and the Norton Space and Aeronautics Charter School Carnival; and NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, on this occasion, and in appreciation of their leadership, dedication and impressive contribution to the City of San Bernardino and its citizens, we, on behalf of the Mayor and Common Council of the City of San Bernardino, do enjoin, commend and honor the staff and students of the TIDD LW AND ENPIRE JOB CORPS CENTER for their outstanding achievements, invaluable contributions and exemplary record of public service to the community, City of San Bernardino and its c"it�iiz�e�ns.� VD2Cil ATRR:R .
